Sunday Recap | It's Not Going Down the Way You Thought
In our journey through life, there are times when we find ourselves on the verge of despair, like the widow in 1 Kings 17:9 who believed her life was coming to an end. However, as we revisit this scripture from last week, we discover that our perspective can drastically alter the outcome of our circumstances. Let's delve into the importance of mentors, the impact of our voices, and the power of shifting our perspectives to fulfill our purpose.
You Need a Mentor in Every Season
Life's various seasons require guidance and mentorship. Just as the widow needed Elijah to see beyond her imminent demise, we all need someone to provide a different perspective on our situations. Trusting only in your own vision may cause you to rush ahead of God's plan and pace. Sometimes, your own voice is the wrong one to listen to.
The people we allow into our lives can shape our perspectives, impacting how we love, respond, connect, and view the world. Therefore, be selective about who you let into your soul and allow to influence your mind, affections, will, desires, and imagination.
Don't Let Fear Become Your Faith
When fear dominates our thoughts, it can replace our faith, leading us down a path of negativity and despair. If all we talk about is our pain, we become consumed by it. Success alone does not equate to fulfilling our purpose; we must confront and overcome our past dysfunctions that hold us hostage.
Fix Your Perspective, Not Just Your Vision
Fixing your vision alone is insufficient; you must also fix your perspective. Making the right decisions depends on seeing things in the right way. Seek guidance and be open to change, just as Elisha had Elijah, Timothy had Paul, and Joshua had Moses.
Being coachable and willing to receive guidance can help shift your perspective and break free from destructive patterns. Sometimes, God sends people into our lives to challenge us, disrupt our comfort zones, and shift our perspectives. They may not coddle us, but they will set us free by revealing the truth.
Maximize What You Already Have
God often sends a fruitful component along with the challenges we face. The key is to maximize what we already have rather than constantly seeking something new. When we become familiar with our own greatness, we diminish it. You don't need more; you need to stop misusing and misinterpreting the potential within you.
Life is filled with challenges and seasons that can either break us or make us stronger. The power to change our outcomes lies in our perspective and the mentors we choose to guide us. Embrace those who can shift your perspective and help you see the greatness within yourself. Remember that success isn't just about achieving your goals but also fulfilling your purpose and impacting the world positively. So, shift your perspective, and embrace the journey ahead with renewed hope and vision.
